After the sparring in week 7, you might think things are only just getting started. Actually, the opposite happens now — and it matters just as much as everything before it.

What happens in the final week

  • Active recovery instead of high load
  • Mobility work, to loosen shoulders, hips and back back up after the intense weeks
  • Relaxed technique fine-tuning — nothing new, just refining what's already there
  • Looking back: taking stock together of where you came from and where you stand

No sparring, no pace pressure. This week is deliberately the calmest in the whole course.

Why rest isn't a step backward

Your body doesn't build itself up during training, but in the phases afterward, when it's allowed to recover. After seven weeks of rising load — and one intense sparring week — your system needs time to process all of it. Anyone who just keeps pushing full throttle through this phase isn't risking more progress, but less.

That applies to everyone, regardless of fitness level: recovery isn't an extra, it's part of the training plan.

A moment to look back

Week 8 is also the moment we sit down with you and look at what's changed since week 1 — in coordination, conditioning, technique. For most people, this is the point where the difference between "start" and "now" really becomes visible.

And then? Then the course is over — but for many, that's not the end, it's the starting point for the next cycle. The foundation you've built over eight weeks keeps carrying you forward.
